Tim Woodgates
Tim has been a driving force in the firm since joining as an accounts and audit semi-senior in 2012. His dedication and expertise saw him rise to Associate in 2018 and Partner in 2022. With a focus on tax, Tim works closely with owner-managed businesses (OMBs), helping them stay compliant with all UK legislation while ensuring they don’t pay more tax than necessary. His advice goes beyond the numbers, offering strategic financial planning and guidance that supports businesses as they grow and evolve, even adopting an external Finance Director role for certain clients.
Tim specialises in Corporation Tax, business restructuring, research and development (R&D) claims, and Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT). He’s known for making complex tax matters understandable, empowering clients to make informed decisions with confidence.
Tim blends deep technical knowledge with a down-to-earth approach—making him a trusted advisor and a valued member of the team. He’s also the co-host of The Tax Advice Podcast with colleague Matthew Grief.
Outside of work, Tim brings the same energy and creativity to his personal life. He plays guitar in a rock covers band, combining technical skill with a love of performance. A keen historian, he’s especially fascinated by the medieval period – the Wars of the Roses in particular. He also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, crafting his own recipes and sharing meals with family and friends.
